Ventilated Seat Heater Switches
Each time the ventilated seat switch is pressed, it switches between High, Mid, and Low function of seat heater and ventilation.
Seat Blower Motors
The seat blower motors are controlled by pulse width modulation (PWM).
Thermistor and Breaker
Seat cushion heater has a thermistor and breaker. The thermistor and breaker are protecting an overheat and seat heater circuit.
Value of the thermistor is input to the control unit.
The seat heater temperature is controlled by breaker ON and OFF condition.
Ventilated Seats System Description - Control/Function
Heater Control
The seat heater control unit performs control to each set temperature (Low/Mid/High) based on the value of the built-in thermistor of the seat cushion heater. When the seat surface temperature has reached the set temperature, the control switches to pulse width modulation (PWM) control.
Blower Control
The ventilated seat control uses pulse width modulation (PWM) to control the blower motor to ensure that the set air volume (Low/Mid/High) is reached.
Automatic Operation
Based on the outside air temperature, A/C target temperature, and other factors, the climate control unit calculates the optimal heater or ventilated seat setting. The climate control unit sends this setting request to the ventilated seat control unit via B-CAN. When operating in auto mode or during remote engine start, the ventilated seat control unit will operate per the B-CAN setting request from the climate control unit.
Ventilated Seats System Description - Failsafe Function
Thermistor Circuit Open Failure
When the seat heater control unit detects a thermistor wire break, it stops the heater output and turns off the seat heater switch indicator.
Thermistor Circuit Short Failure
When the seat heater control unit detects a thermistor short-circuit, it stops the heater output and turns off the seat heater switch indicator.
Heater Circuit Current Error
When the seat heater control unit detects an abnormal current value in the heater circuit, it stops the heater output and turns off the seat heater switch indicator.
Ventilated Seats System Description - Overview
The ventilated seat can be controlled with switches to heat or ventilate the seat for comfort. Each time the seat ventilation switch or seat heat switch is pressed, it switches between High, Mid, and Low.
