Honda Pilot: ATF Warmer Removal and Installation

Removal/Installation

1. Vehicle - Lift

2. Engine Coolant - Drain

3. Front Bulkhead Cover - Remove

4. Air Intake Tube - Remove

5. Air Cleaner - Remove

6. Intake Air Duct - Remove

1. Disconnect the breather pipe (A).

NOTE: When you tighten the band, refer to the throttle body removal and installation procedure.

7. ATF Warmer - Remove

1. Disconnect the water bypass hoses (A).

   NOTE: Be careful not to damage the lines when disconnecting the water bypass hoses.

2. Disconnect the ATF hoses (B).

   NOTE: Be careful not to damage the lines when disconnecting the ATF hoses.

3. Turn the end of the ATF hoses up to prevent ATF from flowing out, then plug the hoses and the lines.

4. Remove the ATF warmer (A).

8. All Removed Parts - Install

1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE:

• Make sure the ATF hoses and the clips are properly installed.
• If necessary, add ATF to the proper level.

ATF Warmer Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE: Keep all foreign particles out of the transmission.

1. Vehicle - Lift

2. Splash Shield - Remove

3. ATF - Drain

4. Engine Coolant - Drain

5. Air Cleaner - Remove

6. Intake Air Guide - Remove

7. 12 Volt Battery - Remove

8. 12 Volt Battery Box - Remove

1. Disconnect the connector (A).

9. 12 Volt Battery Duct - Remove

10.12 Volt Battery Base - Remove

1. Remove the harness clamps (A).

11.Connector Bracket - Remove

12.ATF Warmer - Remove

1. Disconnect the water bypass hoses (A).

2. Remove the ATF warmer (A) with the fixing plates (B).

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ATF warmer.

3. Remove the pipes A and B with the fixing plates (C).

Installation

NOTE:

• Keep all foreign particles out of the transmission.
• Apply a light coat of clean ATF on all O-rings before installation.

1. ATF Warmer - Install

1. Install new pipes A and B with new fixing plates (C) and new bolts (D).

2. Install the ATF warmer (A) with new fixing plates (B) and new bolts (C).

   NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ATF warmer.

3. Connect the water bypass hoses (A), while aligning the paint marks (B) on the ATF warmer lines with the paint marks (C) on the water bypass hose ends.
4. Secure the water bypass hoses with the clamps (D).

3. 12 Volt Battery Base - Install

1. Install the harness clamps (A).

4. 12 Volt Battery Duct - Install

5. 12 Volt Battery Box - Install

1. Connect the connector (A).

6. 12 Volt Battery - Install

7. Intake Air Guide - Install

8. Air Cleaner - Install

9. Engine Coolant - Refill
